3 Things to Look for In a New York Audio Video Integrator
published onSeptember 28, 2011

We know it’s not easy selecting a New York audio video contractor to design and install systems in your venue. When you go about choosing an audio visual installation firm, there are a few questions you should ask before you sign a contract on the dotted line.

1. Can I see some of your past projects? An experienced AV contractor will be happy to share names of past clients (with their permission, of course) and also describe other projects the company has completed. Ideally, your choice audio video contractor will have done projects similar in size, scope, and style to yours.

For instance, if you’re looking for someone to design and install systems in your sports bar, you want a contractor with many of these projects under his belt.

2. Are you licensed and insured? You want an audio video contractor who works by the book, who is licensed and insured.

3. Do you provide service after the sale? How about training? Okay, so that’s two questions, but they’re connected. And they’re very important. Today’s audio video control systems are sophisticated and you may need some quick, hands-on training from someone intimately familiar with their operation.

Let’s face it… if you want someone to hang some monitors and then disappear, there are other places you can turn. A reputable, professional AV contractor will provide training in the systems he’s installing, whether it’s sophisticated Crestron controls, a digital signage system, or a Yamaha digital mixer, and will be available for emergency service 24-7 if you blow an amp or your systems stop working for any reason.

There are other considerations, of course, but these questions will get you on the right path to selecting an audio video contractor that can fill all your commercial installation needs.
