New York & Jersey Sports Bars (and JD Systems) Survive Hurricane Irene

We don’t want to call Hurricane Irene “much ado about nothing.” She swept in on Saturday night, August 27, and caused a lot of destruction throughout the weekend. But it could have been much, much worse for us here on Staten Island and across New York and New Jersey.

Now, for the most part, the storm debris is cleared and the longest, most boring Sunday afternoon in recent history is just a memory.

The Jets-Giants game, scheduled for Saturday, happened on Monday and fans with DirecTV were able to catch it on the NFL Network. (You know, that’s what’s really important, right? Looks like the Jets may be off to a good start this year. We won’t talk about the Giants right now.)

Good Thoughts for Our Fellow Staten Islanders

Kidding aside, here at JD Systems, we escaped relatively unscathed, although without power for most of Sunday. Some of our Staten Island neighbors weren’t as lucky. Residents of Midland Beach are still experiencing flooding, and one Staten Island community experienced mudslides — now they’re concerned about trees uprooting. Hurricane season, it’s time to end now. One was enough for the New York tri-state area.

Countdown to Kick-off

It’s time to focus on happier things … like the start of the NFL football season. Follow us on Twitter and “like” our Facebook fan page to countdown to NFL kick-off with us, and hear about the exciting projects we’re working hard to finish before opening day.

Want some hints? We’ve got more screens going into some of our favorite venues, digital signage and some amazing interactive technology, plus a brand new venue set to open that we can’t wait to tell you about. We’re sworn to secrecy right now, so you’ll have to keep checking back for details and photos.
