Sound & Communications Spotlights Audio Visual Systems at Park East

For many years now, JD Systems has been installing high-end audio visual systems in sports bars, restaurants and nightclubs in the New York tri-state area and beyond. It’s nice to be recognized for our hard work — and that’s exactly what happened in the October 2010 issue of Sound & Communications magazine.

Sound & Communications, the AV industry’s leading and longest-running trade publication, spotlighted our audio video installation at Park East sushi restaurant and sports bar in New Jersey, with a cover story that spans 11 pages. View Story >

Park East, Hazlet, New Jersey’s Newest Hot Spot

Park East is a unique dining concept that combines a sports bar with 80 monitors for viewing all the games, a sushi restaurant, a martini bar, an ultra-lounge, and a nightclub-quality sound system. JD Systems designed commercial audio video systems for three distinct spaces within the venue: the sports bar, the restaurant and the ultra-lounge. Then we teamed up with Sound Environments, LLC, who installed the systems.

It’s hard to describe Park East in a short blog post — Sound & Communications’ regular contributor Dawn Allcot took 10 magazine pages to capture the essence of the space, all enhanced by the audio, video and digital signage systems. Park East set trends in the region; ultra-lounge/sports bar/restaurants began popping up all over the New Jersey suburb following the Park East opening.

But there’s nothing like an original and Park East proves that. Every weekend since its opening, its been packed with families, sports fans and, later at night, the NYC area party crowd enjoying thumping bass through Electro-Voice subs, installed to supplement the Bag End full-range sound system. The dining area sports an Electro-Voice ceiling sound system along with some EAW speakers for more directional sound for the DJ, emcee or presenter.

Park East Video Systems and Digital Signage Systems

But, even before they’re struck by crystal clear sound, visitors are bound to notice the 80 monitors spread across the venue. A mix of plasma monitors and LG LED screens, each screen displays its own feed from a choice of sources: DirecTV or Verizon Fios boxes, a DVD player or the Tightrope digital media server. Sources are routed through a 32 X 96 Knox Chameleon component HD video matrix, an important equipment choice, according to Joyce. JD Systems makes sure aesthetics are as important as performance in every installation, and the Knox matrix eliminates the need for “an ugly black box” danging from the wall near the flat screen monitor. A Stardraw controller makes it easy for the manager-on-duty to switch sources on any of the screens. This attention to detail and useability characterizes all JD Systems’ commercial and residential audio video installations.

A Unique Vision

In the Sound and Communications article, JD Systems’ Jonathan Joyce credited Park East owners Kosta and Demetri Rexinus for their unique vision of Park East. He said, “These guys are five steps ahead of the game every time. You see it there first and then everyone else follows. They’re very good at what they do, and they surround themselves with other people who are good at what they do.”

If you’re looking for a hot party place to get in out of the cold, the perfect venue for Superbowl Sunday, or to re-fuel after all the holiday mayhem with some world-class sushi and a creative martini blend, check out Park East.
